Hi all,
Thanks for supporting the PVC-Free Campaign to urge Target to
phase out PVC, the poison plastic and switch to safer and
healthier alternatives. Help us continue the campaign's
tremendous momentum by organizing a few activities this holiday
season. The funny spoof video, Sam Suds and the Case
of PVC, the Poison Plastic, has received rave
reviews and events were held events at 30 Target stores in 14
states nationwide generating tons of media coverage across the
country.
This is having a major impact. Since the campaign was
launched:
- Target said for the first time in writing they, "are
committed to exploring alternatives to PVC".
This is a good sign, although not the full commitment
we're seeking and we need your help to keep the pressure
up.
- Over 5,000 people signed our petition to
Target.
- Over 40,000 people viewed the Sam Suds
website.
- Working Assets sent out an action alert in their November
phone bill, and estimate over 20,000 letters
will be mailed to Target's corporate headquarters.
We need your help to keep the pressure up in the weeks
and months to come. Here's how you can help today:
- Organize a holiday-themed educational event at
your local Target. The holiday season is the
busiest and most important time of the year for Target.
Consider organizing a holiday-themed leafleting, protest,
or street theater event at your local Target, and ask
Target to give the gift of a healthier future by phasing
out PVC, the poison plastic. An event can be as simple as
you and a friend handing out flyers for an hour. Contact us for materials to organize
an effective event in your community.
- Tell 5 friends about Sam Suds and PVC.
Click on the "tell a friend" page to spread
the word and contact us if you'd like to
distribute Target flyers, Sam Suds postcards, website
banners, and/or sample e-mails to forward to friends and
family.
- Sign our petition
to Target and join thousands of others in asking
Target to phase out PVC as other retailers and companies
have done.
- Watch our funny 3-minute video, Sam
Suds and the Case of PVC the Poison Plastic.
Contact us if you'd like a copy on DVD to show in your
community at your church, school, community center, house
party, or other event.
Together we can win this critical campaign and leave our
children a healthier, more sustainable world. Thanks so much for
your support.
